A Bit More About This Project:

Perched on a hill overlooking Narragansett Bay and the Newport Bridge, our renovation reclaims the former glory of this old Victorian Inn. Our clients wanted a seaside home where their family could relax at the beach for the summer, but were intent on keeping the spirit of the Inn alive. This 3,400s.f. home follows the layout of the original Inn, but with modern updates: the kitchen is clean and fresh with oversized industrial light fixtures, the master bathroom is flooded with natural light, and the vaulted turret ceiling highlights the exquisite interior millwork.

We designed a new 2-car garage and guest suite that complements the architecture of the main house and book-ends the property. By designing a steep hip roofline instead of matching the mansard roof exactly, this 'carriage house' is distinguished on its own and brings a playful element to overall design. The archway leading to the backyard not only provides privacy for family BBQ’s and lawn games, but anchors the structure to the land.

No detail was overlooked in the restoration of this home including finding “just the right hue” of sea green for the bead board porch ceiling. The oversized white Tuscan columns, hefty railings and mahogany decking are reminiscent of Shingle Style homes that dotted the Jamestown coastline more than 100 years ago.
